Oslob is a coastal municipality in southern Cebu, Philippines, facing the Bohol Strait. The area combines a historic town center with fishing communities, beaches, coral-rich waters, and mountainous terrain rising inland. Oslob is best known for its marine tourism, particularly whale shark encounters, but it also has cultural and natural attractions away from the coast. The municipality includes several coastal villages and smaller communities, while its location along Cebu's southeastern shore provides access to nearby islands and marine environments. Its rural setting contrasts with the larger urban centers elsewhere on Cebu.

Oslob's cultural heritage is closely connected with its Spanish-era church and long-established coastal communities. The Cuartel, a large coral-stone structure near the church, forms part of the municipality's historic center and is associated with the area's former Spanish colonial administration. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepcion remains an important religious landmark and is built from coral stone. Local festivals and Catholic traditions continue to shape community life, while fishing remains an important livelihood along the coast. The town's historic buildings provide a visible connection to Cebu's colonial-era heritage.

Oslob's coastline and surrounding waters support a range of marine activities, including snorkeling, diving, and boat trips. Tan-awan is particularly associated with whale shark viewing, where visitors can observe the world's largest fish in coastal waters under regulated tourism arrangements. Nearby Sumilon Island is known for its white sandbar, clear waters, coral reefs, and protected marine environment. Tumalog Falls, located inland from the coast, drops over a broad limestone formation surrounded by forest and vegetation. These attractions give Oslob a varied landscape that extends from coral reefs and islands to waterfalls and mountain slopes.

Seafood features prominently in Oslob, with fresh fish, shellfish, squid, and other marine products commonly prepared in local homes and restaurants. Filipino dishes such as grilled fish, kinilaw, sinigang, and rice-based meals are widely available. The municipality's coastal setting also supports small-scale fishing, linking local food traditions with the surrounding waters. A notable aspect of Oslob is the concentration of different environments within a relatively small area: a historic coral-stone town center, fishing villages, whale shark habitat, offshore reefs, a protected island, and forested inland waterfalls all form part of the local landscape.
